Future technologies: How they make work easier and increase productivity

Social and physical changes will shape the way we work in the future. However, technology will have the greatest influence on future working methods.

However, the development or deployment of a specific technology will not help to open up new ways of working. Ultimately, employees of small and large companies will be able to work anywhere and anytime thanks to the combination and integration of many different technologies.

Sensitive workplaces encompass a sophisticated network of worker wearables, smart devices, and thousands of sensors. This cognitive structure will enable full, seamless customization of the workplace. Each employee's peak performance will be maintained throughout the day by adjusting variables such as temperature, light, and oxygenation.

The day is organized by technology

In the future, systems such as digital personal assistants will plan a workday that is varied and ensures optimal well-being and productivity.

The software will recognize that an employee is sitting at the screen for a long time and ensure that in between they have a meeting, exercise, or perhaps rest in a sleeping pod for half an hour. Everything is fine-tuned to optimize personal productivity.

The system must have an overview of all employees. This means that calendars and appointments can be coordinated and the productivity of the company can be maximized.

Virtually networked ecosystem

Soon, thanks to secure cloud access, companies will no longer have a physical but a virtual technological backbone. Thanks to interoperability and integration, disparate office technologies are being removed from silos and brought together into a virtual ecosystem.

In everyday work, agile workers get the seamless, connected work environment they need, whether they're at home, in the office, or in a coworking space.

The main benefit of this advanced backbone is the same from an employer and employee perspective - connectivity.

Everything will be networked and communicating with each other 2: from the IT infrastructure in the office, smartphones, and WLAN to programs for security access and devices such as multifunction printers.

The technology within this ecosystem is becoming more independent over time. The devices will be able to book service appointments and automatically reorder spare parts to minimize downtime and administrative work.

Pervasive Learning

Technology offers something far more exciting than shortcuts, simpler interactions, and the reduction of distance and time. It helps us to overcome our human intellectual limitations.

One thing is clear: ubiquitous learning will bring about the biggest changes in the way we work.

Algorithms will soon speed up various work tasks, collecting data to solve productivity problems that humans may never have recognized. This could lead to huge efficiency gains in the workplace.
